Businessman in Argentina Charged with Abuse of Minors

Buenos Aires, Dec 19 (NA) -- A businessman in the nightlife and financial sectors, linked to the entertainment business in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo, was charged in a criminal case for alleged abuses committed against minors. The investigation began after complaints filed by parents of students at a private school attended by the defendant's son. According to Noticias Argentinas news agency, the file —which is handled under secrecy in a criminal court in the City of Buenos Aires— currently has at least ten formal complaints from young people who reported situations of harassment and abuse. The 'modus operandi' under investigation According to the judicial proceedings, the victims described a pattern of behavior that included financial incentives and digital equipment: Encounters and substances: the young people reported attending houses and offices where there was allegedly alcohol consumption and proposals related to online betting were made. Harassment situations: uncomfortable scenes that occurred after sports activities were reported, some of which may have been recorded in images and videos that are now under expert analysis. Digital evidence: The Justice ordered the seizure of phones and computers during raids on the defendant's properties to carry out technical expert reports. Judicial measures and status of the case Despite the seriousness of the charges, Marcelo Porcel, businessman and former dealer at the Oh! shopping center, has not yet made a statement of inquiry due to the recent incorporation of a new complainant into the case. The court issued a restraining order on approaching the alleged victims, which prevents the accused from attending both the educational establishment and a social club. Procedural situation: Justice authorized the businessman to travel abroad for a family commitment, after assessing that there is no risk of flight, while evidence collection and interviews in Cámara Gesell continue. The case is causing strong shock in the Buenos Aires educational community while the progress of the expert reports on the seized electronic devices is awaited.
